Bought and used some RS chain for the first time today run it
on a Stihl 066 30" BC in 28" dia White Oak..........WOW!
I should have tried this sooner

Nobody, that I can find around here sells skip chain, I want
to try skip chain (now) on my 36" bar.

You don't need skip chain on a 36" with an 066, it will pull it just fine in oak. I've had mine buried deep, and never had a problem.

Thay's my thought too, the 066 is our big saw at work. Never run anything but full house square chisel on ours (36") and it only gets used on the really big stuff. 038's and 034's do most of the work. I've had it buried in oak and maple, doesn't hesitate if the chain is sharp!

Just about as fast as my personal 084 too! faster in smaller wood.

Not meaning to be picky, but the term is full comp....full house signifies a cutter for every drive link! There's a carbide chain for firemen with this configuration.

Get semi-skip or full skip for that long bar...better chip clearance, and less cutters to sharpen.

I apparently used enough "thinking fluid" one night while sharpening chains, and got one "spot on". Bucked a 44" red oak like it was butter. Buried my boots in chips, and the saw just kept cutting. Lester and JR, my two cutting buddies, just stared at me with their mouths open. I have to admit that I was more than a bit amazed myself. Oak was rock solid, not a soft spot anywhere near the cut. Milled up real nice too.

Maybe it was the quality of the thinking fluid that night, not the quantity.

My next Bar & Chain may be a 3002 mount 47 incher
with the power head, Dealer shot me a price yesterday :)
But father-in-law had a brain tumor removed two weeks ago
and not doing the best.......At a time like this I will not ask
the wife about buying a saw, Yes I ask the wife before
buying saws, helps keep the peace.
