I'm scheduled to attend the two day Silver classes next week. Anyone been to it yet and if so is it any better then the crappy bronze level class. That turkey had virtually nothing for us guys back in the shop and I'm hoping this one won't kill me with boredom or blow my blood pressure sky high with sales garbage.

Register, and...

NV, I'm trying to schedule silver training. I actually look forward to gold, a few days away from the shop and a trip to Va. Beach.

As far as I know you have to be a dealer employee. If you have a real tight relationship with you dealer he may be willing to let you tag along provided you foot the bill.

I'm just hoping the Silver class is more geared for shop personel. They should have told us the Bronze level was 95% for either management or sales staff so shops who have seperate people in those positions could have sent the right people.

Out here they held the Bronze at what traditionally has been the yearly tech update schools and we all thought that's what we were going to.

Schooling

How about one of you "experienced persons" putting on a 2 or 3 day class, study group on chain saws? Topics to include: shop methods, performace engine modification, tools, new innovations, ..... Maybe some mfg would show up to discuss their products.

Just a thought! I would be interested in paying ((something like 250??)) to participate. I don't want to turn my hobby (chainsaws) into a business just want to learn more. rick

Bronze was dumb. i skipped it.

The silver wasn't bad. I had no trouble getting through it. when it slows down in the shop im headed to va beach to take the gold.

Jim, did the Silver have any useful info or learning for us guys in the shop? If we do the Gold I'm sure the boss will send himself to that one, leave me the crap while he take the good. Guess thats what bosses are for.

yeah the silver had some good tech stuff, carburation and ignition systems stuff mainly. I learned some things.

lol my boss couldn't change a bar and chain on a saw to save his life :)

Glad to hear it. I was so disgusted with the Silver class that I had almost decided to bug out on any future offerings.

Yeah, my boss hasn't had his hands dirty in a long time but he has been there done that. I'd love a chance to go back to the beach. I'm sure a factory tour would be included. Been through the Briggs factory and found it very interesting. Biggest problem was I could have spent a week rather then just a day taking it all in.

Is this school held only in Va Beach? That's only 20 miles from me! How much is the class?

Silver school was ok and gold school is a must. if nothing more than see how Stihl Inc. works. The tour was worth the price of admission. But if you really know 2-cycles your only going to take so much away from the schools. I was part of the first gold class so I'm sure that some things have changed. Overall it was a good experiance.
