I was wondering if anyone here can steer me to a place that sells these....local dealer wont get one,,but I know some will sell the special tools thanks in advance:bowdown:

Two deck screws. One sharp for the hole and one blunt for the pull. Cheap tool. I've got 100+ auto seal pullers. They all suck. If you need directions to use them you will ruin a bearing.

We're asking specifically about the Stihl puller. Some crank seals are too small (metal body is too thin) for deck/drywall/etc screws. Most of us have used improvised tools to pull seals. I use an assortment of self tapping screws, along with a small pair of vice grips (to grab the screw) and a small slide hammer to pull the vice grips. I also have modified small screwdriver shanks (with a small hook) to get under the metal seal body. Used the slide hammer to pull the screwdriver shank. The Stihl tool is slick, and good to have it it can be found for a half way decent price....

I can see why it would cost $200, but that's still a bit steep. Then again, to make the thin jaws srong enough requires some quality steel and heat treating.

well it came Monday.... btw it was 2 bills otd seems steep but he was 40 cheaper than the other semi local dealer:cry:

I used it today and it was worth every penny:hmm3grin2orange: took 3 seconds to pull a small flywheel side seal that took me an hour to get nowhere with a pick and multiple other homemade tools:clap:....now 2 more customer saws that need seals, it may pay for itself quicker than I thought......

Can you post the part number for this.

I'm going to try and order one tomorrow from my dealer if I can convince them to do so for me.

I'm tired of messing with bent picks etc.

It's a write off Jerry (Krammer) you don't even know what a right is (jerry)

stihl seal puller for $170.00?

Should have said something... I can get them OTD for <$170

I'm also interested. I've got a Stihl 026 that needs the notorious flywheel seal replaced. My local Stihl shop is
very slow right now, they tell me they are about a month behind and don't know exactly when they'll get caught up.
It seems that I'd have no trouble reselling this item if I find I only need it for this one job. I've ordered the Lisle seal
puller and I'll try it first - from what I read it works well on most seals - but the 026 is a different story.

thanx for the offer watsonr but the damage is already done.....:hmm3grin2orange:
