Might be interested
I will compare pictures later
Thanks for the pictures

yes they do

im almost certain its chipper because im familiar with round chisel, semi chisel
from my personal experience round chisel to semi chisel, semi chisel last almost 3 times when filed at around 20 degrees
and chipper last twice from semi chisel depending on the circumstances
chipper are very free hand file friendly, out of all the cutter types they are by far the easiest to file
the round angle lets the file sit in perfectly, the are very smooth but very slow at the same time
when rakers are filed down abit they are just awesome to block with(ripping) its very smooth
and dont jump/bounce like other cutters, you could actually feel it gliding through the wood
it feels like its taking lesser material/shavings compared to other cutters(crosscutting)
they chew through debris, hardwoods, grits and stuffs, i had on few occasions knocked nails inside wood
and didnt even realize until i brought it down to file, i even let it hit asphalt and it didnt seem to affect cutting
that much

that being said if i were to be given a choice of a cutter to go with for a whole day it would be semi chisel. lol

That looks like a semi chisel, Rapid Micro(RM) chain to me. Around these parts, "chipper" chain is full chisel(Rapid Super, RS).

Very interesting. Wonder why they don't offer it here in the US? Is there any kind of part number printed on the box?

The only chipper chain (for hand held saws) that I know of, currently available, is Archer, and only in .404 / .063.

It may be like the ms 341
Don't think you can get it in the states
I went through the Stihl catalog found only RM or RS chain
But would surprise me if they don't sell it to us

no there isnt
come to think about it can we not file the ripping chain to 30 degrees and use it for crosscutting ?

'Rapid Micro' = 'RM'. That has usually meant semi-chisel here in the US.

The 'C' stands for 'comfort' - means they slightly clip the heel to reduce vibration.

Yeah, ripping chain and crosscut chain are often similar, except for the angles ( there are exceptions, of course).

My first look at the two sets of photos was on my phone. Looking at them on the larger screen of my computer, I think that they are the same (but always hard to go by the pictures !).

They each appear to have a narrow, flat area on the side plate of the cutter, and both have the 'C' on at least some of the cutters.

Oregon uses a few different trade names, including 'semi-chisel', and 'micro-chisel', presumably to distinguish between the radius of the curve where the top and side plates meet on various models of semi-chisel chain. STIHL has only one version that I know of.

I would L-O-V-E it if STIHL, Oregon, or Carlton would bring back chipper chain in a couple of pitches for dirty wood. Currently, STIHL offers their 3/8 PICCO carbide cutters, and Oregon offers their 'Multi-Cut' or 'Dura-Cut' chains with a thicker chrome plating.
