I have read the manual for setup, and I have read the Oregon manual, and I have watched an australian guy on YouTube comparing and explaining the setup differences, i am looking for a 30 degree top angle and a 55 degree cut angle which should give me a 35 degree measurement on the cut scale for the Stihl. Yet it seems
That my top plate angle is much more acute than 30* my gullet isn’t deep enough, but if i adjust down for the gullet it hogs into the link. I had a TimberTuff (Oregon knockoff) which I actually did ok with, I thought I was upgrading.

Have you got the manual for it?

I've attached the ones that I have. These might help. Note the angles for Stihl chains on the info sheet.

Note that the angle settings are different on the USG. This old thread might help - or maybe confuse you even more!

I have the manual, but thank you for the link, they are better illustrations than my manual. If i adjust down any farther the wheel cuts into the chain links, it is as though the vise is too far forward even though it’s at 0

Your wheel is no where near hitting the tie straps, get it lower and some hook on the side plate if you want it to cut good. The only other reason a chain wont cut is high rakers
