Stihl Woodboss?????????????

Have heard the term wood boss many times. What does it mean? is there a difference to the normal Stihl saws.

It is a name that they added to certain models of saws, I guess for marketing purposes since the 290 Farmboss is the best selling homeowner saw.

Boss or Master, it appeals to peoples sense of being some super size he man.

I had noticed a few saws here in the UK with farm boss stickers on them. I have wondered what they were. Thought they may have a couple of big bore exhausts and a spoiler on em lol.......

Originally the term "wood boss" was a "value engineered" version aimed at homeowners, and "farm boss" was a slightly more rugged and upscale model. This all got blurred in the 90's... now it's pretty much meaningless.
