Hey Guys,

I am looking to find a good home for my Stihl BT 45 Auger / Drill.

It is set up as an auger currently with 3 and 5 inch bits. The drill option is easy to add to this powerhead if deisred.

The auger has about 6-7 tanks through it, 40:1 Trufuel only.

It was used to plant small spruce seedlings, flowering bulbs, and small perennials.

The pictures speak for themselves, it is spotless, no flaws, cracks, etc. It is cleaner than any dealer display model out there !

Asking price of $450 shipped insured with 2 auger bits, owners manual, wrenches and packaged like a gentleman, not an animal.

Questions, concerns or for more info please PM me and I will respond promptly.

Thanks

The biggest auger is a 5 inch, which is included. Works great for small plant installs.
3 inch is perfect for small tree seedlings, bulbs, tree root feeding.

For large landscaping projects like mass plantings, ditch the shovel and pick up the BT 45 planting auger from STIHL. Its lightweight gasoline-powered engine goes where electric models don’t, so you can dig in remote areas. Ideal for mass flower plantings or deep root fertilization, this small, compact landscaping auger helps you work large amounts of soil more quickly with less fatigue. A primer bulb and throttle lock make the auger easy to start, while an anti-vibration system and ergonomic design make it easy to operate.

NOTE: The BT 45 planting auger is not for rocky, compacted soil or drilling large post holes.

The nice thing about the BT-45 is having 2 speeds and reverse. The unit is a also more compact and streamlined than the competition. The BT-45 I sold on top, the Echo I now have on the bottom.

So what is it that you are doing that the Stihl is best at? I am not referencing it in regards to the Echo I am wondering what it is that you are using the Stihl for. If all it can do is run a tiny auger I am not sure what it can be used for outside of planting bulbs

I only use them as a drill, while I have seen them with an auger, I have never used one. I would question whether it has the power to be effective with an auger in hard packed dirt. Any planting that I needed to do was done with a shovel or PTO driven post hole digger.

I sold my BT-45 to a fencing contractor who uses it daily and loves it.

The auger is great in most soils, very rocky, hard soils, I do not know if this the tool you want. My soils here on coastal CT are sandy for the most part, those are the soils that the auger has been used in.
A lot of guys use them for deep feeding of tree roots and / or incorporating OM into the holes to amend the tree root soils.

I was going to get the drill conversion kit and use it as a drill to rebuild a dock with telephone poles for most of the structure, but far too big of an undertaking for one person, it would be perfect in that situation IMO.
