I had a chance to run my new 280 this afternoon and here’s the report. First off the muffler made a huge improvement on the saws performance that Dan Henry modded from the get go. But after running about four gallons of gas in this pig it is starting to bark. I just received my Forest stewardship for my Gentleman’s farm. It sports a 18” bar garnished with 3/8s square ground and a rimmed sprocket that Paul AKA Sedanman sent me.Paul sent me the whole conversion. Thanks Paul!! My friend and I cut and split a little over 11 cords today. Here’s the whole enchilada.

I am more a Husqvarna fan but Stihls are like sheep they never like to be left alone.

Here's the air box with the filter removed, it's not a bad saw. The 280 is a little softer on the hands than other Stihls I have owned or run. I would get this saw Modded but with my Luck and Stihls, Let sleeping dogs lay.

Hey I just noticed you must make your own chain? THere are two cutters together facing the same way in the first pic. If that makes you not want the saw, send it to me! ;)
