OK,
The concensus seems to be that Isabel spared us much loss and suffering... It could have gone another way...I know the storm tracked 100+ miles farther west of Philly than had been predicted 2 days ago... So though we're plenty busy, the damage is relatively light...
I haven't seen anything too crazy out there, though I did learn a thing or two when trees I've inspected or worked on failed... Saw one twister hole torn through some woods and backyards.... A perfect V through the woods...
This pic is of my first call last night before dark.... Tree failure at the base due to advanced decay... I've been on the property 10+ times in the past two years,. but never dug through the overgrown Juniper bushes to inspect the base of this maple.
The only damage to the car was to the tailgate... not another scratch...
I was driving closeby when the call came... I showed up in 5 minutes... Chained a couple of big sections with the truck and they were good to go in 20 minutes from the time of call.... That kind of service is fun to provide and is great for relationships..

First job this morning pulled out the camera to take some cool tree on house pictures...no battery in the camera:angry: cause I needed to make sure it was charged up for the long days coming up don't you know.
Will get some next week.

We removed a 60'' plus white oak from a house today. It took a 70 ton crane to remove it. Some of the guys got some pics so I'll see if I can get some duplicates of them and post.

Ryan, that you could tell, were there any major structural defects in the tree which may have lead to its demise? Rot? That's an AWFULLY big tree to just keel over. Not to mention the extensive root system that white oak has.

murphy4trees, where in philly are you located?my girlfriend goes to school at sju in philly and i saw a gnarly tree on conshahocken blvd that had fallen in a yard and somewhat on the house while the roots tore the sidewalk completely up. im in philly alot and i am considering moving into the area . if you are interested in getting together sometime or have any job openings please let me know. thanks

Matt, the tree had past lighting strike as well as extensive root rot. The root ball wasn't but probably 15' in diameter just guessing without having mesured it. I'll be back out there tomorrow to start cleanup if it isn't raining and I'll try to get some picks.

The big oak mesured 62'' across the stump at DBH!! We used a 70 ton crane to get it off the house.
