so ive been looking at replacing my old 1978 fisher gpa clone wood stove. it has a 8 inch top exit pipe. i've been looking for something that heats my home better. i see most of the new stoves use 6 inch pipe. if a firebox is near the same cubic feet and uses a smaller pipe. does the reduction in pipe diameter, help retain heat better? my thinking is that 8 inch pipe just lets the heat move to easily up and out. my mother had the same fisher clone, but rear exit and that stove could really thump the heat out. my top exit, ive heated the house but its always chilly. i havent finished picking a replacement but am looking at a pacific energy t6 or a jotul f55. i want to understand how the jotul turbulator functions more.
