Hello,

I am wondering if a muffler mod is advised (or not) on strato-saws? I am mostly interested in improving operating margin i.e. making the saw run cooler as happens with non-strato engines. Has anyone done any testing on this?

I have an MS251 that I will be rebuilding that will be used by volunteers and would like to do whatever I can to help it "live long and prosper".

Thanks,
Steve

Why is this post NOT showing up in the Chainsaw forum topics list? No wonder there are no responses.

IDK, I see in Chainsaw. Anyway...I muffler mod all my saws, Strato or not. I don't necessarily do it for less heat(although it's a side benefit,) it's just I figure it's good for power to evacuate exhaust gases ASAP.

milled a hole in my 372 muffler between the bolt holes. the thing already ripped. made it louder.
