Was browsing around the pawn shop yesterday and came across a fairly new looking homelite super xl maybe a 18" bar pulled over easy and was very clean
had the saw for $129. Normally any saw i have seen in there starts at the 150 mark and thats for poulans and mccats anything like Husky Stihl or Echo starts at 200.00? is 129 a decent price?

Not bad if the saw is a good runner with a clean piston. If you can get them down into the sub-$100 range, I'd definitely pick it up, if only to re-sell it on eBay.

Good running RED saws seem to be worth gobs of money on ebay $150-$200

Good running BLUE saws seem to be worthless on ebay $20-$50

To me there isn't much difference between a blue sxl and a red one.

I picked up a used but good red xl-12 at my local jonny dealer for 60 bux then got a super xl parts saw on the evilbay for 20 bucks. 129.00 seems a bit high to me but I got some good deals

I'm new to the site, but have been dealing with saw's for a long time. The price is a little high, pawn shops keep repair techs in business. Just check with your local dealers concerning parts availability, since Homelite has been sold a few times in the past years, parts have been harder to get. The Super XL was a great saw,Blue or Red, Heavy, but dependable.
