... no, only one black spot on the opposite side of the last "find" and there were a multitude of inclusions deep inside the tree. Seems we managed to find several of them... lucky us... thats what happens some times...

The last piece was a stainless steel eye-bolt that the tree healed over about 10 years ago... seems the owner had a chain/cable across the drive at one time where the tree was located... forgot to take the bolt out when he was done....

The real winner was the 8" diameter hook and pulley that was buried in the English Walnut crotch... found that one ahead of time...

The log would scale out at about 10 tons.

Only if its about 70 feet long! A 16 footer that size would be under 5,000 lb.

Do you really get enough quality BF out of these urban trash logs that are full of metal and other foreign objects? I can see working the clean logs, but the down time and damaged saw teeth on working a metal strewn log must kill you.

Newfie...

The butt section was 25' to the first branch, small end 30" and calculated weight of 8,350 lbs. The next section was 18' long and 18" small end calculating to 3,350 lbs. for a total calculated weight of 11,700 lbs. from 43' of Walnut. My estimate of 10,000 was conservative at best.
