I'm a 2nd year climber and am starting to personalize my gear and climbing setup. I have become partial to the split tail climbing system for just about everything. The most annoying problem I am encountering with this setup however, is as I work through the canopy, that my rope twists on itself. I would like to hear your feedback on the use of a swivelbiner to overcome this problem/ is it worth the money/ best brand/ good setup. ( I have a weaver cougar with floating rope bridge btw) Thanks

swivel biner

If you constantly get twisted up. Probably a good investment. Several of the tree supply catalogs sell them. What kind of bridge on saddle do you have? Rope bridge use the curved style biner. With flat strap bridge use the flat style biner. If you move on from DRT climbing to SRT. You can make endless loops with no twist.

I have a small petzl swivel and a ring on my edge bridge (spectra webbing). I use the swivel for the spiderjack and the ring for everything else. If you do get twisted it's nice to just duck under the running end of your rope to untwist.

What bridge is on your cougar? Make sure you read this Safety NOTICE on Weaver Cougar Saddle Bridges : SherrillTree Tree Care Equipment

Hopefully that's old news and you're using a safe bridge now.

Thanks for the advice guys, the safety notice is news to me, fortunately thanks to you folks I am now aware and have a backup. :) much appreciated.

Weaver issued another recall just recently after some of the NEW bridges failed it might be posted on the Weaver website.
