I bought the titanium spurs a while ago.
Something I noticed about them.
When I compared my Bashlins to the t-2s I found that the weight difference I think is +/- 6oz. That is really nothing.
While the t-2s are a proven design and are comfortable, so are the bashlins. In fact the Bashlins are a little wider at the stirrup.
Just something to think about.
When the manufacturers come out with a new product it may or may not be "better".
The product salespeople rarely if ever give you the straight scoop on the products either. Check out how Husky pushed the inital sales of the 335xpt climbing saw. They did'nt have the kinks worked out. (still dont IMO!)
or how about the t-2s? Just pole gaffs offered? How lame is that? I gotta weight 2 years for them to be made?
We as the consumer are often at the mercy of aggresive salespeople and equipment manufactures.
We gotta walk a thin line here. I want innovation but I want quality as well
For example:
One year it is silver pulleys and the next gold colored. Go figure

Brian,
I am sorry if you feel I've been ignoring your requests. You posted a question about the gaffs on May 4, which I asked Courntey to call you about, to explain the delay and give you a time frame. Did she call you?

I think she must have, because your second post, from May 31, you start off saying that Courtney called you "about a month ago, saying the gaffs would be available later in the year". You message was posted on May 31, which was last Saturday. It's only Monday. I know I usually check the board over the weekends, but certainly I've earned the benefit of the doubt, when it comes to getting back to people. At any rate, I have posted a response to your question in the Sherrill forum.

As a side note, to the T2 vs Bashlin question, in our catalog, the T2's weight was transposed. It reads 2.3 lbs, but should be 3.2.

I'm sorry was I not clear enough?
I stated the wideness of the spurs not as a comparison of metals but as a comparison of comfort. Jeez, even I know the difference between titanium and aluminum :).

Since I bought the t-2 climbers I have used them exclusivly. I dont mind the shorter gaffs. I guess after so many years of climbing I set my gaffs just where I want them and they dont really kick out that much.
I got them from Sherrills as a replacement for the Geckos.
I dont always talk down to supplyers and manufactures. Sherrills was real quick and responsible about replacing the Geckos. And I thank(ed) them for doing so.
My point is just be a little discerning, when new products come out the support or parts or whatever MAY be lacking. But I also want inovation and new tech. so it is a thin line I gotta walk.

Hey Frans,
What's all this talk about T2? Don't you know that T3 is coming out soon, and there is a totally hot chick playing the bad guy. Or girl.

How is the T-2 stirrup shaped? The Kleins I have are rounded over and hurt my feet. My Brooks are flat and feel great. The Kleins are slightly wider than the Brooks too so width is not as important to me as the shape for comfort.

One of the first things a climber that uses Bucks or Kleins says after I hand him my Brooks is “wow, these are light.” The T-2s must be a pleasure to climb on.

The Kleins will not slip as much as Brooks when you step on a limb because of the cupped shape of the stirrup. But the Brooks do not vibrate as bad on small spars. Short gaffs are better IMHO except for the first 10-12 feet of South Carolina “thick bark” pines. :D
