I just bought a OEM Zama carb kit from an Ebay seller. It is dated 3/15/13.

This makes me wonder about using pretty-old kits. I understand being in a package for a decade is different than being in a saw for that length of time.

Anyway, anyone have any thoughts?

I hope vintage kits do not go bad in any serviceable way, have a box with at least 100 kits probably double that squirreled away. Have rebuilt many carbs using 50-60 year old kits and they have run beautifully afterward, carbs fully adjustable and no flooding.

There you have it. Thanks, guys.

It had crossed my mind that, maybe, fresh AM kits from some reputable source would be better than NOS OEM kits.

But, I'll continue with OEM.

The truth for me is that the vast majority of carbs I have done have been walbro...those kits "seem" fresh, and are not dated. I have only done two Zama, and both those kits had the feel of NOS and were dated to confirm the feel.
