just been flicking trough uk/ir isa web site thinking of going to the warm up weekend for the tree climbing comps. i havn't been climbing long but i reckon it would be a good crack. :blob2:
Has any one had any experience in tree climbing comps? how fit do you need to be? what extra equipment can you use e.g assenders? any helpful hints will be much appreciated.

Hi, Tom! I was just at MasterBlaster's website where somebody posed this question and got good feedback.... guy also said the rules for comp. are on line and downloadable, I think ? Competition is a different deal altogether from everyday climbing, but it's so cool to see & meet other people in the industry, and you'll learn tons of neat trix an' stuff. Ready-Steady-Go !!!

Tom,

Ive competed 4 times and it can be a fun weekend. I personaly didnt practice at all prior to and sure it may have been noticable, but I was there for the fun and friendship too.

As for misc. gear, its outlined in the rules. Nothing fancy in the prelims, but the Master's Challenge nothings banned that meets standards.

Chick was right. The rules are online and downloadable at the ISA website under the TCC headings. I know the update them everyyear and I havent been there lately to see if the new updates are in, but they should be very shortly as the comps are going to be getting into full swing shortly.

Even if you dont compete, you should attend to watch. Ive learned several new things just watching. Also if you dont compete, volunteer to judge something, run score sheets, etc. GET INVOLVED! somehow. I dont think there can be too many hands at an event like this.

Best of luck climbing!

cheers guys, i'm speaking to one of the blokes organizing the shindig a mr ian morgen in the next couple of days, i don't think i'm up to competion level nor will i be for a while, but it should be a good insight, and a few of the others on my course seem interested so it should be a good crack. hopefully pick up a trick or three.
