Went to do a maple about 15 miles away on Saturday morning. Someone had siphoned fuel out of the bucket truck during the week. Got 5 gallons and got it running. Got everything loaded up, went to the gas station, filled everything up (about $200) and headed out. Made it about 10 miles and i heard this PA-TING!!!!! from under neither the hood of the dump/chip truck. I thought " Did i leave a wrench or something under the hood ?" Right after that thought there was a vibration and i could smell antifreeze. Son-of-a-:censored:, the :censored:ing fan came apart. So we pull over and sure as sh!t one of the fan blades tore off and put about 10 holes in the radiator. So i call my father-in-law to see if he can bring his low deck trailer and haul me home.

So my F-I-L gets there all pi$$ed off at the world because his F-I-L went to move his not even a year old 20K Harley and tipped it over. Broke the mirror, clutch lever, got the tank, etc.... Should have just kept my @$$ in bed this weekend. Now i'm done venting.

And the bright side is...

You're all gassed up for the next job. I empathize, Tdunk, my bucket is also in the shop today. Time to climb, bro'.

That's what sucks. I can get the tree down but have no way to chip it and haul it away. Was your truck scheduled or broke down ?

Yep. That was pretty bad.

A week ago, one of my trucks filled the diesel tank with unleaded gas. There was nothing to ##### at my guy about, since the gas station got filled by the fuel company driver: 6000 gallons of unleaded dumped into the stations diesel fuel tank.

Talk about a bad day!! The fuel company had to pay for all the diesel trucks to be towed from where they were notified, then had to have the tanks drained, refilled, and re-delivered to their owners.

By now I hope you're back on the road. The front differential on my Ford F700 was making crunching sounds. $5900.00 to replace the differential. Instead, I had the axels pulled and went back to 2-wheel drive= $1200.00 repair. May go back to 4x4 later. In the meantime, time to cut.

Nope, not on the road yet. The radiator shop didn't get my radiator till later yesterday. It can't even be re-cored because the tanks got so banged up on it. So ( i hate to do it) but i ordered one over the internet. Hopefully Wed. but could be Fri. Guess we'll just work in the rain.

My buddy Mike has this claw truck and is always dropping some BIG money into this thing. For one the tires are 600 bucks apiece and he can only get a year out of them.

I really want a claw truck one day but have you all seen the trailer style ones? Man I tell ya that to me sounds like the way to go.
Not to mention the damn thing is so loud and hard to talk over. When I hear it running it sounds like money-money-money-money!

If you want a hole to pour money into, buy a motor crane. The 40 ton rating is not lifting capacity, it's the total weight of money per year you drop on it for repairs.

Hey guys, not as bad but I took my stumpgrinder apart to change the head gasket, I got the gasket today but as I was about to bring the head to be milled to make sure it was flat I discovered 2 cracks in the head. So instead of putting it back together today I am having it sent away for a couple weeks and paying another $500+ to have it fixed.
