I have a friend who cuts trees for firewood and wants to learn how to climb. Before he even approached me about climbing he had already gone out and gotten TCC by Jepson, a harness, and a lanyard. The lanyard is for pole climbing but we can cut the safety latches off and make him two rope lanyards with some prussic cord, ovals, and rope. I told him I would be happy to teach him but told him no sawing for at least a year till he gets proficient climbing. He needs a climbing rope but is on a budget. I immediately thought of Arbormaster because I am going to teach him tautline and blakes to start off with and go from there. He is a young guy in his 20's and a hard worker. I am excited to share my knowledge with him and at the same time apprehensive. So much to teach and so very important to focus on those aspects most critical to his safety.

My second day climbing I think I got yelled at for taking to long using a handsaw instead of a chainsaw. Well, that's behind me now but I didn't really start climbing with a chainsaw until the stitches from the handsaw came out. Didn't really know to much about tree work until the stitches from the chainsaw came out.
