How does that quote go?

"For evil to triumph, all it takes is that good men to do nothing"

That sums it up for me.

Dr. Mengler? Damm, that wasn't an alcohol enduced vision? You saw it too? Thanks for the scary tooth flash backs. Eichen strasser nicht war?

Nobody here has every heard that it is impolite to talk about politics and religion. "Hi, hello, you are from Texas? What do you think of your man Bush?". My political views are personal so f-öff!!

No Heathrow, just Munich-Atlanta-Austin.

You know the "I'd rather be dead than red?" kinda the same way about Canada (sorry).

Now we're Talking

With all due respect to Murphy, the generally accepted number of Russians killed in WWII was a mere 15-20 million. Starvation, froze to death, no prisoners taken by the Nazis. WWII would have been lost by the cowardly Americans, had it not been for Russians doing the dying and heavy lifting on the Eastern Front. We didn't enter the war until Pearl got Harbored and we were by no means completely innocent in the Pacific either. But, the winner gets to write the history books and Americans buy into a lot of lies--e.g. that the Civil War was about slavery.

Saddam is no Hitler, Iraq is not the Germany of the 30's and 40's and never could be, and "brave" American "fighters" are at virtually no risk in this so-called war. You may remember the "high-fives" American fighter pilots did after returning after bombing runs in 1991--they cared not a XXXX for what they had done or how many people they had killed. Again, Iraq is so totally outgunned, this will be a simple slaughter of Iraqis with more U.S. soldiers killed by friendly fire than by Iraqi soldiers.

Exactly why Americans buy into the lies of Bush and the Fed. Government is a mystery to me. I guess it's just ignorance or indifference.

"We have met the enemy and he is us."

Sad,
Pete

No, you weren't dreaming, but the alcohol was flowing.

The "tooth doctor" just got back from Islamabad too!! Ya need to see what he brought back in his bag of goodies.

Wir werden alle geschraubt!! (Except us)

Give me a holler upon you return, the ice and snow are gone.

All I really want.....

Hey. All I really want is a job. Nobody around here will even give me at chance working on the ground crew so I can work my way into tree climbing. I *know* it's hard work. I *know* it's dangerous, but if your good the odds are in your favor. I may have been a computer programmer, but I'm not a pencil-necked geek, with taped classes [ OK, I've had to tape my glasses ;-) ] and a plastic pocket protector. Work may be slow right now, and there may be people with more experience than me. More likely, they are friends of the people doing the hiring. But, nobody will outwork me or put in a higher level of effort when needed. An apprentice tree climber position is all I ask for, and I'm willing to do anything required of me while in that position.

I'm smart and figure things out quickly, willing to do whatever it takes, tougher than fingernails, and will work day/night /weekends/holidays. Evenings are reserved to enhance my skills, either by climbing or reading up on various techniques and equipment. So, I'm reduced to buying the climbing equipment thru educated guesses as to what I need and what's *best for me* (and whatever Sherrills or whoever will tell me), learning on my own how to use the equipment, then telling prospective employers I have *some* climbing experience. Yes, I'm crazy? We're all crazy--I just got caught.

Such is life (or death, I suppose). I can do the work, but not w/o a chance. And I'm getting really ticked at getting blown off by people who have never even met me, or talked to me for more than a couple minutes.

Sorry, just venting (but not kidding!),
Pete
