Isn't Arbor day going to be NY this year? I believe its in November.
Maybe if its not in Buffalo we can swing in there when we get done.

Probably facing problems from regrowth of past storm damage.

They'ev got tones of wet snow and wind up there lately (always a lot of lake-effect there). Budget cuts and all that, the street trees will have problems.

seems like they could have done some maintenance pruning, maybe hired out to contractors with the $79,000 they are now paying out in damage claims.wonder how big their forestry dept is? how many full time people in the field.what are some of the city forestry programs like where you guys are?

Buffalo

I saw that article someplace--can't remember where. I lived in Buffalo 1971 thru 1984. Lots of old trees there in spite of the Dutch Elm Disease that decimated the Elms some time ago. As someone pointed out, the wind off Lake Erie can be heck-acious--it feels like it's going right thru you. Nice town to live in though--city amenities with small town atmosphere and a great beer-town. Once Erie freezes over ( it's the shallowest of the Great Lakes, so that occurs fairly early typically), the Lake effect snow storms are gone.

Lot's of trees falling spontaneously here in N. VA. Very wet ground.
