Got this saw back from Dan Henry on Thursday and just now got to put it in some wood. I had about a cords worth of hickory and white oak logs, 10-16" diameter, that were cut back in the summer. These logs were hard, especially the hickory. The PP346 made short work of them, buzzing thru like a little tazmanian devil. I could even lean on it a little. I have had this saw since Oct/Nov and had run 15 tanks or so thru before I sent it to Dan. Believe me, its not the same saw I sent off. Dan got my saw, I believe last Thursday and worked on it till about 2:00 am, he said, then got back up the next morning and finished it. He kept it thru the weekend and ran a few tanks thru. Myrb (creep) came over, and I understand they shamed a few PP'd Stihls (026 and 028) with it. Anyway, first impression of the saw is very good. Dan seems to be a good guy and was very prompt about his work and correspondense. :blob2:

Mike,
Sounds like you have a wild little saw their. What bar and chain combo are you running? If you had to guesstomate what % gains would you say Dan made ?
I talked to the creep (myrb) on the phone He was saying how well your saw ran Said it shamed a PP028.
It still amazes me how fast Mr. Henry turn's saw's around. I guess that comes from doing every thing in house he has no one else to wait on or blame for not getting them done.can't wait to get mine I'm sure it will be hear this week some time.
IMO Dan may just be FASTER THAN THE MASTER you can't go wrong !!!

Hi Eric, I wouldnt be bragging too much yet. I have a 346KD being built as we speak. I had to be patient as Ken is putting in a beefed up crank and other things he wont tell me about.
I am personally picking my 346 this spring at Ken's when I go to Hawthorne Nevada in April. When I get a chance I will be sending a 372 down to Dan, as it is good to try all the saw builders out there.
I feel very fortunate for every saw I have from Ken, as he is more than busy with his local loggers/racers.
Since I have met Ole Ken, I have been able to pry an 088, 066, 385 and several hundred minutes of saw talk out him.

Hey Eric, I'm running 66 dl's of 33LG on a GB (16") bar I got from Jeff Sikkema. I understand 3/8 LG is supposed to be a bit faster, which is suprising to me. I'll probably stay with .325 because most of the hours on this saw will be blocking out chain carvings. As far as estimating % gains, it would be a guess, surley influenced by previous posts. As you and anybody that has run a modified saw knows the powerband increases allowing more down pressure to be applied while keeping the same chain speed (more power Scotty). My percentage guesstimate on this saw, would be, "quite a bit more" than stock. Have fun with your new 346 and y'all be careful up ther. :)

I am glad that you are happy with the performance from your little 346,it does work rather well.It did actually out cut that 028 Super of creeps.
My wife does get rather mad at me when I have saws to work on.She claims that she never gets a chance to see me,come to think of it,that might be a good thing.
Eric if you call me Mr. one more time,it will be after Christmas until you get your PP346,I am not an important person,Dan will do.
Later

I have to verifiy what you guys are saying about the power ported husky 346. Mike, I ran your saw before Dan sent it out. It has less cc's than an 026, yet will run circles around my power ported 028. Its unbelievable how such a light & small saw can cut so fast. Way to go Dan! Any one how wants a small powerhouse, the 346 is the way to go.
...Rick/Creep

Mr. Henry has a 346 of mine at the present time working his magic.. To be honest with you guys the fact that it out cut a 028 or 026 doesn't impress me that much I have been dong that with Dan's PP 2149 (I'm not sure what Dan did different to the 2149 compared to other's but defiantly something)will see if PP346xp will out cut the PP2149 IMO that will tell the tail... Dan did you get the pipe I sent you for the 3120 yet? it should be rite on the #'s

Eric
There you go again with that Mr. thing. It will be Christmas before you get that saw now.
I didn't receive the pipe yet but I am looking forward to getting it.I am like a kid in a candy store.
I really didn't think that you would post any more pictures of that slow 394.Did you forget about the day that a little 71cc saw out cut that big, heavy, slow saw of yours?

Looks like the Ohio Triangle of Jonsereds :D If I were you Eric I would'nt keep callin Dan Mr.Henry..Or Santa will be delivering the PP346 instead of UPS..Just kiddin.

Later Rob..

Rob,
If he dosn't get it to me soon I will be calling big bubba to go get it.. Or i will have to make the trip my self I know whear MR. Henry lives LOL..
Those are all 2149's 2 PP 1 Greffardized, all of them great saw's

Don't worry Eric I'm sure you will have it back soon unless Dan is serious about the whole Christmas thing ..Those are some nice looking saws, and I really like that big red Barn excellent storage and workshop area among other things..I don't think you'll have to send out Bubba I think you'll be ok.

Later Rob.

second PP346xp in history

Yet another wonderful job by Mr. Dan Henry.

Hear is the 2nd Power Ported 346xp In history. I have had it for about a week now. Have ran a couple gal. of fuel through it.Their is Nothing like hearing a ported saw break in !!!

For it size this saw is simply amazing, I'm running a 18" GB Pro Top Pulling 3/8 Carlton A1 chain this little saw blast through 12" oak with ease.
Anyone looking for a real power house for a small cc saw I highly recommend the 346xp and you can't go wrong with Dan's Power Porting Process.
Thanks again Dan for another fine saw.

John, Send that 372 down to Dan If you don't like it I will buy it from you... You wont be sorry !!!!
I am also feel very fortunate for the KD2159 that I have hope to add to that list soon.

346XP Vs. 353

Can someone give me a quick run-down on what's different about the "pro" saws vs. "non pro"? I'm kinda leaning towards a 353 at this point, but could be convinced to go with the 346XP if given enough reasons. Being a car guy, it seems to me the 346 is more like a "big cammed" motor - bigger HP and higher RPM potential, but a more narrow torque band.

Appreciate any input.

Brad

I have ran approximately 5 gals. of high test 32:1 gas through this little PP346 now.
This little saw really screams now that it all broken in. If the 2149-2152-353-026 will out cut this thing I want one of each. I don't know if I just got lucky or if Dan is doing something special or what but I can honestly say the PP346xp will spank any Ported 2149 -026 I have ran.
If anyone wants to give the 346 a try get ahold of me.

These kind of results are good to here. Modded saws are really getting a lot of thumbs up here!

Do you have to worry about cooling when running the saw without the top cover? Or does it run cooler with the expansion pipe on it.

Jonathan

Junkie, Thats a unique pipe design. It appears your stinger is way too large and the body is way too small. Essentially you have no divergent or convergent cone with the design as is. So as such it really isnt a tuned pipe.

brad ,i dont think u should hold your breathe until your question is answered. there are some differences tho in the power to wt
area. these are pretty obvious. specifics are a little harder to get here.. good luck.:)
