G'day all.
please, I don't want to start another oil war or oil/fuel mix one for that matter.
Most people might agree that synthetic two stroke oils such as Mobil 2T etc are the best money can buy, however I have often wondered why Husqvarna and Stihl oils are only semi synthetic? Price?
I have read that Rotax do not recommend full synthetic oil in there aircraft engines, unless used almost daily. They state that synthetics will not remain coated on engine parts and in fact attract moisture when the engine is not operated for a period of time.
I have a line trimmer that has been run on synthetic oil for ages, but is however a complete and utter piece of crap. The crank cover comes off with 4 screws and I've had it off a few times, removed it tonight to have a look and I found rust on the crankshaft?
I've seen the crank before when I was running Husky oil in it and there was no rust as far as I can remember. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not going to stop using synthetics just because one piece of equipment I own has a bit of rust on the crank, but I was wondering what you blokes out there that use synthetics and tear down saw motors have found?
Thanks for your time.
Warren.
