A couple weeks ago, I posted some info about a McCulloch 1-76 that I started work on to get running again. Well, that day came today! The new carburetor diaphragms from Bob's Lawnmower in New York State came in today at work, so I took them home to put in after dinner. After installing the new parts, and with the adjustment needles set at one turn out as specified, the saw would start and run for a few seconds before quitting. I reset both carb needles to 1 1/2 turns and it runs beautifully, even at idle and while accelerating. If it hadn't already been dark outside, I might have tried out cutting on some large maple logs I have, but I guess that's something for tomorrow. I still need to locate an air filter cover and related pieces for it, but Bob said he might be able to help with that as well when he's back from vacation. I think I'll be using some ear plugs when I finally do some real cutting with this one!
