Anyone know where I can get some more of these?

I severely dislike the ones Sherrill now stocks. The way the lock is on the back side of it, it pinches my hand. I don't like that.

ps- No- it's not brownies!

Nick let me know if you find any, i'm looking also, i too dislike the newer version sherrill is selling,,,heavier POS

The story that I heard a couple of years ago is that the company that made the smaller ones is no longer in business. That meant that when the available stock is used up we have to use the larger ones.

No idea if this is rumor or truth.

Nick,

Not that I can convince the Italians to change this, but where is the new version of this snap pinching you? Palm? Finger fat? Finger tip?

Do you usually handle the snap upside down (with the captive eye nearest your thumb) or rightside up (thumb nearest the hook)? Does it pinch when used in one particular direction?

We're in the process of finding out if this is definatly a Kong product (as with the one you pictured). If not, and more people complain, you'll likely see a difference in next year's catalog. I do know that we get the current version in 2 different colors so that i can supply climbers a 2-snap lanyard with different colored ends (one red and one gold) for quick identification.

P.S. You guys are a riot, but blaster needs his head examined! (and I don't mean the one in shorty's green trowsers)

Love... knot!

Tobe, and others who are interested- this crude drawing shows where it is pinching me. I'll call the piece of metal outlined in purple the "lock." If you look to the top right corner of the lock on the old ones (the ones maybe made by Kong), there is a little gap (located inside the yellow circle). When you squeeze the snap open, the gap gets bigger, then when you let go of the snap, it squeezes back shut, but the lock never actually touches the red frame of the snap...there is a gap of maybe an 1/8" that prevents the pinch, but in the new ones the Lock comes all the way until it's touching the frame (aluminum red part in the photo) of the snap.

I usually hold the snaphook as shown by the blue hand. This results in pinching either in the fleshy flap of skin between the thumb and fore finger. Sometimes I am using more just my fingers (rather than the whole hand) in which case it the the skin along my forefinger that gets pinched. Sometimes I hold it upside down (captive eye near the thumb)...then it's the skin between my pinky and wrist that gets pinched.

I used the new one for a week or two then got rid of it and went back to my old (kong?) snap. I could get the new one to not pinch, but I had to pay close attention to hold it just the right way.

I hope Sherrill can go back to the old designs. Does anyone really know who makes them? They are unmarked. But I LOVE them...despite the mystery surrounding them!

ps- Tobe, have you been getting the photos I emailed you? I keep getting the emails sent back. I don't know if some made it through to you.

Ouch! You're right, this thing's like a crab if squeezed as you describe.

The one that you've pictured IS a Kong snap. I apparently wasn't clear on that. Just found out that the new version isn't and that Kong does still make the one you like.

"No" on the photos. We've got a pretty tight fire wall over here to keep the Grimlins out. Please direct the communication to our general e-mail center (webadmin) and Sean will pass them on.

thanks and climb safe-

How about just trying a new snap. This is the one I currently use and love it.

i'd really like to vote in for the lil'red's too; definitely missed here! And, i'm all for the bright colors too.

i bought my first at a small Orlando show, didn't implement it for a few months, thinking i'd miss the weight too Mas'r; but that was time wasted methinks. i think it has plent of weight for a 'Beranek Boomerang' toss around a support, catch a piece of deadwood, scoop a line back to me etc.
