thats some serious felling skill involved to fell something like that and avoid it splitting and tearing with such a slow cutting tool

If I had an axe in a tree like that guy, I'd have to use loggin chain for a lanyard cuz I'm sure I'd hit it.

If that's a well sharpened crosscut saw I think it would go through pretty quick. Faster than you might think.

My friend has the book that those photoes came out of,(logging in the great north west) or somthing like that. Great book. Those "old days" arent that long ago either. That guy was working in the Mac SP 125, and 090 days, only about 35 years ago. I am gonna try that one day.

The climber in thoes photoes has won like 3 high climb somthing or other World championships! I would say he is perty ???? good

What the hell do you need a 60 inch bar in a tree for? Because anything smaller than that can be run on a 395 or 066. It might not be lightening but ited work.

I have climbed with a 090 with a 46inch (I think) bar, long enough for 2 of use to sharpen it at the same time comforatably. I climb with 66 on 40inch at least a dozen times a year. Dont like doing monsters but its good to finish em! I do the wedges with holes and string thing to, they rock. Oh a small flat pry bar is good to.

I've used a 084 in a tree on a half a dozen jobs. Crane jobs. 3 cuts is my limit and then i'm completly spent. you just can't get much help from your legs on spikes. 99% of my takedowns i'm ms200 16" then my trushty 440 25" if needed.

3120

sent up a 3120 one day, the boss wanted me to start it on the ground for him before sendin it up...the cheek, making me start it for him...pah they breed them soft these days :dizzy:

i find it alot easier to start a saw in the tree than on the ground, just use the weight to push the saw away. the hard part is pulling those big saw's up the rope.

I pulled a 385 with a 32" bar 100' into a tree hand over hand, nothing I hadn't done before. Messed up my back and lost three days of work after. If I have to pull a big saw into a tree now I set a sling and micro pulley above me so I can pull the rope down instead of up.

Its all good man.

I have hung an 200 and an 044 off my ness, same side without suspenders without a real problem.

I was on spikes though.
