The Story of a 60" Basswood Removal(pics)

Here is the tree we took down today. It is the biggest Basswood I have ever seen. The job took 3 hours 15 minutes all cleaned up with a 4 man crew. Everything could be bombed down since a garage was going on site. The weather was great and we had an awesome time.

Here is the tree.

Here's a nice undercut with the 3120 Husky and 60" Cannon bar.

Here I am moving logs with my skidsteer and homemade grapple bucket.

Needed a little extra weight to load this pig.

Question nails the chute on your chipper did you modify it and
does it stop up sometimes?

Hey, I was working too Oldirty! Didn't you see me bossing Chaz around and running the chipper? lol.

Chaz was gonna see if he could get inside the trunk, but decided against it for some reason.

My wife took most of the pics. On these big removals I usually get the ground work because I have to run my skidsteer and make sure thing keep up with the madman in the air. That one would have been a blast to climb, it was a free for all.

Question nails the chute on your chipper did you modify it and
does it stop up sometimes?

That chute is completely custom, fabbed by ourselves. I was wondering if it would stop when we built it, but we haven't stopped it yet, it's gonna be fine.
We have stopped our old chute though, the original that was on it.

I had the 440 in the truck in case the Husky's all went down and I had to fall the stub or something, lol.

I left most of my saws at home, I was the operator in this operation. I didn't even bring my climbing gear, just the heavy equipment.

I climbed for the two days before this, so it was bros turn. He wanted to try out his new maxi-flip line and his saw pose for the upcomming calendar shoot. I kill myself.

Yeah, suspenders are cool.....I think. I don't know you can either pull your pants up or your suspenders, kind of a horse a piece. Just wear them for show usually, makes me look like a real logger.

appears plenty of room to drop the whole spar. Why chunk small pieces? Were you afraid the tree wouldnt hinge because it was hollow? Hollow trees can be felled accurately too. A winch or your bobcat to a 3/4" bull line would of gotten her down quicker. Or was it because you didnt want to dig into the grass? Line that edge with logs to keep the tip end from making contact with the lawn area.

That tree would have had to been felled right on their lawn, too much damage in too big of an area.

We had wanted all the wood to come down in one spot, right where they would be building their new shed. We had one track in and one track out.

As far as the spar goes, I would have had to pull from too far out in the lawn with my skidsteer, wanted to minimize turf damage.
