ArboristSite Operative
Hello all, new to wood cutting and arboristsite. I have been gathering and selling firewood for the past few months and can't believe all the crap I've found in my firewood. There is nothing worse when the chainsaw is cutting to see a trail of sparks shooting out! So far, I've found a piece of fence, several nails, a screw, several modern .45 bullets, an OLD cast .45 round ball surrounded by about 60 growth rings, and an old cast lead .30 caliber round nose projectile way deep in with a line of pitch behind it where the tree tried to heal. Cutting mostly Sitka Spruce, Cottonwood, some Red and Yellow Cedar, and Alder. What have you run into while cutting or splitting?
