Thinking of new 60cc class saw

Ok, sorry its taken me so long to get back with my decision, I have been kinda busy with the new job. So I ended up going with the dolmar. Thought I would take a chance on something that I haven't tried yet.

I have some pics and had it in some wood yesterday, still on the first tank. It likes to die when you let off the throttle after the cut. Hope that goes away, or it will go back to the dealer.

Congrats on your purchase. Seems the others are too caught up in Husq vrs Stihl to see that you chose the "other German" saw. I didnt read the thread... so did you go with the 6400 or the new 6100 saw?

My Dolmar 421 is a very well built saw and really doesn't believe its only 42cc.

When mine gets home, I will weigh it..

With a 16" B & C the 555 is 16 lbs and 13 oz. That's fully dressed with fuel and oil topped off. I doubt the 362C is lighter. As much as I would love to say it is? It seems heavier. That may be false? But mine won't be back from Tn for a couple weeks.

I went with the 6100. I will be ordering a wrap handle for it some time here in the near future.

Does anyone know if you can get double dawgs for this thing? I didnt see an outer one in the ipl.

I am amazed at how much fluid this thing holds.

That 6100 is very nice! Im not sure on the dawgs but if it has a place for an outer dawg to bolt on to clutch cover Im sure u can get one

metals 406 could make u some dawgs probably if u ask him. Magnum dawgs on a 60cc look good but arent neceasary and will put saw in a bind if u dont pay close attention when cutting. Medium size dawgs like on my 362 in the pic work very good

Stihl claim their 362CM is 12.8 lbs. Going by Stihl, Dolmar, and Husqvarna's history of quoting weight with no cutting gear, no clutch cover, no clutch drum, no clutch, no piston, with titanium bolts, and helium in the tank, I would be stunned if it actually were 12.8 lbs.

Having said that, I am impressed with the little Shinnys up to 50cc. Much less so with the bigger ones. At least stock with an MM. Ported, the little shinnies are great. The bigger ones are still a touch heavy compared to alternatives, but they run strong.

Well, prolly best to empty out the fluids as well. The problem is finding a scale for me. Maybe I can get a cheap hanging scale... All I know is it is a lot lighter than a 440 with full wrap(by nearly 2lbs), which is why I went with a ported 361 instead(I'm old) - most of the wood we have here for logging is 18"-36" spruce/cedar. A 70cc saw isn't really warranted, and I am always on a hill or mtnside when using it. So, it's come in handy.

The 361 is a much better saw than the newer 362.

It is lighter and neater, with a quad transfer non-strato engine (it is the only Stihl ever to have such an engine). Unlike most Stihl saws, it (at least the Euro version) also has really good trigger response/accelleration.

My 545 is right at 10.7 pounds. With no fluids and bar. I thought it was a lie I actually took a 10 pound weight and it was a even 10.

Ive noticed 0 issues with trigger response or acceleration with my 362c? Not sure where your comin from?

I'd like to see it. The main problem I had with the 362(non CM) I tried was it was very sluggish compared to even a stock MS361, let alone my ported one.

Cant compare a 362 with a 362c. My ported 362c isnt far behind my stock 461r in smaller wood. No sluggishness on my 362c. Maybe I just got a good one? I havent heard much good said about a stock 362 non c model
