I've got a rayco 1665AC stump grinder. I hate the lexan shield. There is a static charge that makes dust stick to it fast. It glares when the sun is just right. I'm thinking of replacing it with small hole expanded steel I realize that a small partical may slip through if it hits it just right but it should stop anything that can hurt,(I wear face protection) I guess I feel it's still safer than having my head around the side of the shield to see what I'm doing. Anyone else done this?

It will work but if some one gets hurt because of the modifications you made to the safety shield you will get hung out to dry in court !!!!!!!!!!1

Not trying to sound like a jerk but if it were me and I could afford it, I would have a remote control machine and screw the lexan. If you cant make that switch I dunno what I would do.

Use new lexan and ask the Manufacturer what is the recomended treatment.
We use rainx on boat windscreens with success and then used it on the stumper. Make sure it doesnt affect your warranty.

Remote would be nice but it's not a practical option. I do this part time and there realy isn't a ton of work out there. I'm going to stick with what's already paid for.
