Makes sense! I am assuming by the vid that he couldnt just pull it over because of the deck etc that was underneath. Would you snap cut pieces that tall? Some times i have trouble getting my snap cuts to break loose and in with that sized tree id probably only be comfortable with three foot pieces or so.Well, for starters there was a way faster way to bring that tree down. Pretty common knowledge but why tell everything that has taken you years to learn.
You are supposed to have two tie ins while running a saw. A lot of old school guys disregard that but it could save you from cutting yourself out of the tree someday, so long as you don't cut through both tie ins.
There is no need to notch a pine that size to drop chunks. A simple snap cut will keep you from having to walk around the tree and is much quicker... The time you save doing that would more than make up for the time it would take you to be safe and use two tie ins...
I'm sure there are other points but that's just what I can think of off the top of my head after watching the vid once yesterday.

is that saddle made by Harley Davidson. I know the boots are. Either his chain is on backwards or thats the hardest pine i have ever seen. At least his rope isn't tangled in brush, with logs bombing on it. leg straps are for guys with small $%^&*. If tree work was that hard i wouldnt do it. Can you imagine working like that everyday. Had a guy ask my weight and height over the phone before a climbing interview, have a feeling this guy wouldnt make the criteria. look at his shirt he got a sponsor. ol' country buffet
In was reminded of something else about Albert. Could be he is on the clock and not in a hurry to get that tree done...

The girl in green: is your ##### sweaty?
Girl in red: yeah, its pretty sweaty.
Girl in green: Would you like me to lick it?
Girl in red: Sure but could you do my ####### first?
Girl in green: I was kinda thinking the same thing.
Girl in red: We should call The Dan and have him do us both
Girl in green: Good idea.
I am banned? Its Ok, I don't mind but its yer loss.
He was wearing his safety bandanna, what else you want? Also if my saw was that dull I would probably be one handing it also. Safety violations and Technic aside, He moves better in the tree then a lot of climbers I've seen.
I use to have a belt just like that 25 years ago, but I was skinny enough it would go over my shoulders if I didn't buckle the butt strap.
I just find it funny he gave up the suicide knot for his lanyard. Got to go with the times I guess.
On another note, that is why I am afraid to post any videos, you all are so critical.:msp_tongue:
Ok minus the lack of ppe and the dullest chain on the planet and the outlaw mullet what else was this ol boy doing wrong? Ihave done very few removals on spurs i usually just leave foot holds and my lanyard ? Serious question here
