Last one my foot!! Beautiful restore job and a strongly agree with filing the carb mating flanges to make sure they're flat. Have a question regarding painting. Do you tear the saws right down to the bones to prep the surfaces for painting? Are you powder coating as the job looks very professional?

Thanks! I'm taking them down to individual parts before glass bead blasting and then painting. I've been using a "restoration" paint from a local chain store - rattle can. I'll put on three - four thin color coats followed by two coats of clear polyurethane with about 15 mins drying between coats. Putting the poly on before the color is completely dry seems to get it to bind better. I tried waiting a couple days in the past but sometimes got lifting.

The pictures are forgiving. These old sandcast models have lots of small surface imperfections that I do not try to eliminate.

BTW - I started on the Mall 2MG last night.

Got the carb figured out. The H screw is on the outer side instead of next to the L screw and at one time, there was a plug in the H passage next to the L screw - but it was gone. I just tapped the hole for 8/32 (same as the L screw) and installed a wide headed screw with an O ring and some silicone. Worked like a charm. Stated right up and idled fine.

I'll be posting a video on youtube shortly.

You set the bar very high - that is one of the nicest restorations I have seen. I have a few old things under the bench that I plan on resuscitating when I retire. Not sure I can match your standard but it will be sure fun trying.

Sure you can, just take your time and don't overlook any details. I look forward to seeing some of yours.
And take lots of pictures. They are great when you forget how something goes together.
