I have an oak they took down in January already cut up to 18" rounds. It was mostly dead, but had some life to it.

I'm working to get my splitter up to par to split them.

If I get them split by then end of May, will they be ready for Fall? It's at least 4 cord, big freggin tree.

Thanks,

Abe

I would say that would be unlikely. Live oak is usually a two year drying process. Since it came down in January the sap shouldn't be flowing up into the tree. Your best bet would be split on the small side, stacked off the ground on pallets and somewhere that gets a good amount of sun and wind.

I'm with Books, Two years for oak. Maybe small stove wood might be ok but you'd beter get it split and off the ground (pallets) with southern exposure and lots of wind.
