image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Lots of little branches on main trunk. Inside doesn't look like oak to me. What do you guys think

yeah it's definitely a young tree. only about 14 inches dbh.

I cut a bunch of pin this spring and the heartwood was about the color of the inner bark from your photos. Granted I'm 1200 miles from you so it could just be different soil.

Looks like Pin Oak to me too. But, people use different names for similar trees in different parts of the country. Here is a stack of Pin Oak that I processed last winter from a dead tree. Not quite as white in the sap wood as your green wood, but dark core, and a little less straight than the Red Oak I usually get here.

I have about 16 trees this size to cut down. mostly they are pin oak, assuming this is pin oak. some beech, and a couple mystery trees we are trying to figure out. One tree is a giant white oak which i'm very excited about. I got 5 of these pin oaks down so far and i'm getting them bucked and brought home before I take anything else down. It's hot and humid as hell here but now is the best time for me to do this.

I feel your pain. I've been doing storm cleanup for the last two weeks. Got my last job done today so I started splitting. Wasn't a dry speck of clothing on me.
