Three things wrong with the Holzaforma saws

I laugh when Stihl guys mention Chinese saws https://en.stihl-qd.cn/

I understand why a company, any company would test the waters of asian manufacturing. To remain competitive. Because they all do it. Now, if none of them did it, the field would be level also. Its the quest for MORE profit. I get it, don't agree, but here we are.
But I also see there's a massive difference between the designer of a product using asian manufacturing and some low life company stealing, reverse engineering and marketing. Its theft. Pure and simple. If's someone buys that product, sorry.
They're as guilty as the pirate.

Cool. So a China Stihl gets a green light then . Go through your property and throw away everything reverse engineered in China you own. Then go buy the original.

I mean if it saves your bacon to run one then more power to you but rebuilding/replacing everything so it functions like a premium saw is laughable

Ive got a pair of 660s being used regularly with 36" bars on both and knock on wood in 14 months they've each gotten a few new rims, a new plug and knock out the filters. Thats what convinced me to get a 660 and i liked it so much i got a 372xp.

I have many after market saws and have had no problem with them that is any different than OEM. The problem is the after market stuff that I have has been using out shines the current manufacturing three to one. The current crop of saws is pure crud. Not worth any thing. The biggest flaw with current saw is EPA compliant and design. I do not want any electronic tuning or limits to the carburetor. If I can not easily change the carburetor in the field in under two hours it will be gone. So that kinda limits the equipment that is available. Thanks

I never said that stihl should get a pass. I don’t agree with it. But they aren’t an American company first of all. All profits go to Germany. All precision machines in Virginia Beach bear German names. They are a privately owned company. What they do is their business. Their engineering is their property. They follow US laws.

I can say I don’t own anything that is so blatantly a rip-off. Then wave the flag and say america first.

Anyway I can't comment on the social impact of manufacturing because I don't own any manufacturing businesses ,but it's pretty obvious that the people who do, have all their stuff manufactured in China and maybe they should be leary of that?

I'd be petrified. All china has to do is shut it's doors for a month. We'd be dead in the water. But they wont. They worship money as much as we do. Make it here, sell it here or tax the **** out of it.

It is a shame that we depend so much on china. When the borders closed after covid first started, you couldn't even find a new cellphone here.

...back on topic. My clones run well.
Milling, bucking, logging, for years.
Very few problems whatsoever.
Each clone I have I also have the real deal version, except the 440.
372, 660 , 440.
I don't buy the clones because they are so much cheaper, that is not the main issue for me.
I enjoy tinkering, and I have picked up several half assembled saws, often put together wrong, and now 3 of them have been assembled with the help of a 9yo girl, who loved the experience, and has a better record of correct chainsaw repair than my local shop:/
They are not the greatest thing in the world, I still use my 661 every day.
the OEM reliability is probably better, but again.
Curiosity, teaching tool, and a good big saw for someone who only uses it 3x a year, or mills, & doesn't have usd1360 for a new 661.

Total cost for the PHO=$265. Then a couple weeks after I finished it I was in another shop and picked up another 394 in a box for $100.

They're out there. You just have to want to find them.

It would help a lot if the stihl and huskys of the world wold contract us companies to produce aftermarket parts they they no longer want to produce. Finding quality used oem is not always easy or cost effective on older saws.

Ive looked for some time for that kind of deal but never had any luck..closest ive found is a 395xp that needed new plastic, and a left case half for $250...very very well used and abused.

Stop building saws until you find an all OEM builder. Tell yourself you won't give in anymore to the China junk. I bet your luck changes.
