I sent a project Husky 261 with a 262xp top end to Moody for some of his magic. I know I could have used other saw builders but I'm happy with the work Moody did to the 261. Besides, it wasn't a $1000 saw. I had $100 into it at the time, Moody had gotten one or two commended reviews, and I figured what the hell. From now on, I have trust with his hands on any of my saws.
Through E-mail & P.M. correspondence, he gained my trust and I shipped the saw out to him. The saw took a little longer than expected but that's another story, which has been covered. Our agreement was for his price, to port, cut squish band & base and throw in a 262xp clutch. Done deal...
I received the saw a couple weeks ago and didn't have time to look at it until last night. I pulled the muffler & carb off. His work on the intake & exhaust ports are very clean. I didn't pull the cylinder off so I'll trust with judgement that the transfers are just as the same. I put everything back together, fueled up with non-ethanol 40:1, sputtered w/ choke on with 2nd pull. Choke off, she fire immediately. Idled very well, considerably louder than expected; dual port muffler must add to the effect. It was getting late (8:30pm) and I made a quick test cut on a 16" red oak. Previously, I only used a 346xp & a 395xpg. I have a feeling the 395xpg will be seeing more shelf-time.
I hope to put some hours on it this weekend and look forward to breaking it in.
