you experts out there (you know who you are). who makes tillotson carbs (ie. is this a type or a brand) and where are they from, ie. is it a motorcycle carb or something - i gather it flows fuel much better than the stock carbs etc. how much would a layman have to pay to get one?

Tillotson is a just carb company that's been around forever. Most saws have come stock with them in the past. They make them for everything from weedeaters to snowmobiles. All but one of my saws have Tillotson carbs, from a little HU to a big honkin' HL.

Nothing magical.

is epa the reason then why we have gone to zama, walbro etc. or is it price or what - what about mikuni?:D would it work in the 136???? - lol

Yes it is because of the EPA. I know the carb engineer for the 385 from the Husky factory had a real battle with tillitson as well.
