Guys, where do I find timber prices for my area in Central Indiana? Local timber guys is buying a few loads of hardwood from the neighbor and he saw I had a walnut that he was interested in. It is 18" on the stump and straight for 20'. At the end of the 20' log it tapers to 16". He gave me $500 for the tree. Is that about right or did I get forked?:msp_confused: Steve

Did he collect it? Without seeing the log, I'd say you did quite well for yourself.

IF'n my math is correct you got one 200 bf log (int.) and made $500. That puts the price per 1000 bf at around $2500. So yeah you did pretty good, I half wonder if the logger is doing you a favor or can't do math his own self, cause prices would have to be double or triple that for me to pay that much... figure $5000. per 1k bf, or more

If any of those numbers are correct you made a killing. Most loggers and mills will not touch yard trees. $0.90/bf delivered is what my mill buys it at. That is for a number 1.
