Hung out w/a tree service for a couple of hours this afternoon, SOandSO and son. great bunch of guys. they were doing a tree removal in a church yard. nice, probably nearly 4' red oak with church on one side and graveyard fence on the other. they had a bobcat, 50' boom on a truck and dump truck. very interseting talking to them and watching them work, but to get to the point. when i got there, dad was in the bucket, limbing the tree out. Son had been up there but dad is too impatient on the ground. Son told Dad to put the boom truck on the other side of the fence, Told Son he didn't know what he was doing. Dad did good as far as it went, but when he went to take out the top, (25') it fell and bounced back over on the truck, caved the side of the truck in. Hydraulicks wouldn't work after that. Boom extended 50'. Stabilizer legs, boom, nothing. worked. Well, Dad had to climb down. Son was pissed, and I had to go. The hour or so I was there, I talked to son about chainsaws, Baileys, tree work, and stuff. Son was sharp, Dad was in the tree, making mistakes. Has got to be hard to know when to turn it over, the older I get, the more that becomes apparent. I hated to see that happen to them boys, like most folks, just trying to make a living. But you gotta make "dad" realize at some point, let me hadle it.
