i think anybody would be smart to put some gas up for reserves. these crazy people gonna try and disrupt the election process some way..seems to me the gas supply is the most vulnerable..im talkin of course about terrorist,,and this just be speculation on my part.. chain saw :)

Remember the Eastern power outage for a week that happened the summer before last? Another one of those would disrupt a lot more than just gas.
Ten or 15 gallons could probably treated with stabilizers and kept for quite a while for emergency personal transportation or such. If its not needed, use it up and all you're out is the stabilizer.

yea ,i only got enuff for 25 gals stored where it wont be stolen hopefully. plus i keep anothe 8 in the mower[ztr] an both vehicles ful.. realistically that wont go to far.. but i would have to call customers and arrange everything for the most work done on the least gas..plus i got an festiva that with no joy riding can run a month on a tank, since i live in town now..
if that dont do it .. we ll all be in trouble..
:)

Thanks for the tip Tony. I havent thought about the terrorists trying to disrupt fuel supplies, but it IS a very vulnerable point and one we NEED for daily life.

Mange,
I think what you're asking about is what a fuel stabilizer is. correct?

fuel stabilizers are designed as a chemical that can be added in certain amounts to treat up to a certain number of galllons of gasoline, to keep it fresh for over 30 days.

I've got a 5 gallon can filled with fresh fuel, maybe I should stock up on more gas.

I was hoping to get a little deeper, like What it is and what it does more precisly.
If I by petrol and store it right they garante min. 30 days here.

what u do is use the reserves in your tanks and keep refilling the reserves. this way u always using the freshest gas.. jmo

This is all new to me, Aspen last several years if you close cap, and keep it out of sun and heat.
Regular petrol+oil is good min. 1 month max. 6 months, if I listen to the petrol companys here.

I haven't given stashing gasoline much consideration. We finally got rid of our tank at the shop for different reasons.

But I was very motivated to have a multiple heating oil tank installed at home for a little more security. Glad I did. If the code allowed it, I'd have put in 3 or 4.

Yah, you won't be able to take the school bus unless you bring your own 5 gallon can.

stabil

I put stabil in my generator and have let it sit for more then a year and it still started on the first pull I love that stuff in my rototiller, generator, water pump, push mower and anything else that does not get alot of use. I've had the same plastic gas can for 12 years now and it is still good I think I got my $4.00 out of it.
