I have just accepted the position of Grounds Superintendant (or something like that) at The Heidl House Resort in Green Lake, WI.

Dave (Gofer) Ryan's wife put them in touch with me last year and I talked to them. I got a call out of the blue last week and went up to talk again today. They made an offer i could not refuse.

It's a posh resort that is now under new managment.

Here's to hoping that it lasts longer then the country club:D .

Oh BTW they have trees on the property too ;)

I'll have Dave just down the road, so I will be keeping my buisness active partime.

BTW, Rob, I'm still interested in that winterr work you mentioned! All they do then is plow snow, and I could take vacation then.

Winter vacation?

Pack all your gear and your salt water fishin stuff too, say... how fast can you resod an acre?

I'll tgake one month and Butch can have the other.

The only fishing stuff I have left is a drop line, though I think a few of my old tip-ups are in the rafters in the basement.

They are about to open up a new public course about 20 min from here. Self sustained course open to the public. Costs $100 for a round of 18 holes. It's interesting... it used to be a golf course. IBM bought it and it went back to woods pretty much. Now the county spent a whole bunch of money to turn it back into a course.

congratulations john.i hope it turns out well for you..what will your work involve???.. i'd keep up your consultancy work if you can its always nice to have a few irons in the fire ;)

I'll be moving up into Gofer's turf so that will reduce my ability to consult. though I've billed him more then a few hours in that department.

I do plan to keep it going, along with the subcontract climbing.

Just gotta balance it with all this remembering, relearning and learning new stuff. It's been years since I've done turf work.

Do you get to wear those funky golfer getups? Pastel pants, goofy shirts and those hats with the pom pom on top? Or how about those golf carts with the dingle berries on the roof. Or is it a classier place than those Florida courses?

Now then between JPS and MB who would I get the most work out of?

This is a resort/spa thing. No golf, though there are some 90 holes within 15 minuets of the front door.

I'll stick with the khakies and polo shirt thankyouverymuch.

As for how much work you'll get...it all depends on what the work is.

Butch, how fast could you lay sod in the Bahamas?

The real JPS

Yes, JPS is moving to Green Lake. That is great news for me, too. There is plenty of work to share around this lake, and the side you guys don't know about John, is the way he treats my boys. He is great with them, and they like it when "Big Tall John" messes with them.

I moved to this tiny community (where my wife grew up) just over two years ago, and the business it starting to roll now. It would be even better, but I refuse to work that many hours, as I spend a pile of time enjoying my boys (and wife). I love my trees, and they sometimes rate above the family and I am constantly remionded by my wife to, "Quit looking at the trees and get the car back on the road!", but family first.

Why all this talk? 'Cause now the boys will see big tall UNCLE JPS more often! I will put his place on their route home from school so they can eat again before raiding my 'fridge!!!

The Heidel House gig will be a great stepping stone for JPS to show case a number of his talents, and get noticed by others who visit the resort as well. Now, I just need to find him a 6' - 5" smart, attractive, curvaceous babe... then he'd be in the driver's seat!!!
