I'm in the middle of a BIG Job, 18 trees, leave it all. I went to the homeowners office to pick up a check. Looking down into a rollback dumpster as I go up the stairs, I spot a blower. A Stihl
BG 85, brand new. after I got the check, I dove into the dumpster
and rescued said blower. pulled cord, compression.:D

Took check and blower to stihl dealer, (going out of business.)
Purchased an 066 magnum. Cheap. homeowner paid for it, I got receipt and warrenty.
Tech replaced broken fuel line on blower, $6.00, no labor.

What a day.:D

The teh used the blower to clean his shop, I took the saw to a low bid tree job, and dropped and bucked a dead 30" white oak.
Of course it was sweeeeet!
This my 3rd 066 over the years, and I love it.

I'm going to get Dozerdan to build me a 3120 PP using my old 3120 that blew up, and use it just as a testosterone fix.

Anybody in VA wanta run me?

Tree monkey how did you know what the out put was??? Have you been spying on me again??LOL:D I think Dennis said it was something in the neighborhood of 30% or so? Dennis what of this??? I can tell you that it is SIGNIFANTLY faster than the stock one that I had a while back:D It does a 4.1 second pass through 16'' wood with a 24'' bar and full comp chain:cool:

I hate to be the pesimist but you should check the serial number on the blower then contact the local law enforcement. There has to be a reason it was in the dumpster. We have a huge problem with people dumping junk along our levee road. There is a duck hunter who walks along and picks up some of the junk while looking for some type of ID in the junk so he can turn them in. A few years ago he found two Stihl saws hidden under some junk. He could have kept them and no one would have known but he took them right to the Sheriff's office and they were returned to the owner.

Just my random thoughts

I hope it is yours to keep. It is amazing what people will throw out. My wife's grandfather seems to run across some great deals. A neighbor at his vacation house had a fairly new riding lawnmower sitting along the street with his garbage. Kenny stopped and asked about it and the neighbor said he could have it. The mower had been flooded and the owner did not want to mess with it. After some cleaning it fired and ran. Not bad for free. I got a simalar one for $25 because the owner thought the "clutch" was out. There is no clutch to go out. It ran fine. I just wish I could run across a FS550 clearing saw or 038 Mag that way.

Good luck

Bill

This isn't chainsaw-related, but it is my best story so far. I picked up a Minolta Maxxum 3000i autofocus SLR off eBay for $15 (BuyItNow), including case, flash, and a lens. The guy selling it said that it would only show a low battery sign when you turned it on.

Care to guess what was wrong?

WOW! While in no way do I find Treeeslayer`s alledged misdeeds anything less than reprehensible, this thread serves perfectly to illustrate how easy it is for anyone with access to your computer to track you, and even make posts under your name, if you don`t atleast take the simplest precautions such as clearing your Temp Internet Files and History every time you leave here. Even having this forum bookmarked makes it easy for someone to find out what tales you are sharing with your buddies. I know for a fact that my wife uses my home computer to check in here to see what I`m up to during times that I am away from home. I`ve got the reports to prove it other wise there would be no way of knowing and she vigorously denies the fact. Not exactly a loving wife just wanting to be in tune with her hubby. Yeah, I know, I`m paranoid. Anybody else got any reason to be concerned? Let this serve as a free warning! Russ

Or it serves as an impetus to ditch the toy Windows operating system and get something that's been used for decades to maintain privacy when more than one person uses a computer.  Linux is a current example of that type of system.  Windows has ever been a one person one computer setup, and though they are currently attempting to bolt on Unix-like capabilities, it's not as good as the real thing.  http://www.cheapbytes.com/ is one good source.

It might not seem to be as "easy" to get set up initially as Windows, but if you'd ever tried to install Windows on a bare computer you'd know better (right Marky?).  Trust me when I say that you don't all need to be computer wizards to use it well.  I'd had a box set up for a lady friend and her four kids and they didn't have one lick of trouble using it (apart from keyboard/monitor failures) over several years time that I was involved with them.  The only real problem was when the millennium changed on January 1, 2001 and an old time-setting utility needed to be updated.

I will second Russ...WOW...

I chose to delete that particular post of Brians...and I see someone else deleted the original. Treeslayers business is his and only his. Unfounded claims of what he or anyone has done do not belong here, nor will we allow them.

As Russ has said...clear your files...toss your cookies...:D

And for those who are unfortunate not to be using Linux try this.
open internet explorer, click tools, internet options, hit clear history, then depending on the version get rid of cookies and and clear files. Then hit the advanced tab, scroll down check the box clear temporary internet files when browser is closed. APPLY IT THEN OK IT.

No charge.

almost forgot the chainsaw related item
