somethin goes wrong in that pic[assuming the crane] and they singing for u that nite. as always jmo. no offense intended.
also u have my respect for the work u do.

Dont worry Ryan, I think Tony is into the moonshine again. Pretty soon he will be seeing antigravity servos holding that thing up. :D

Huskyman, Ryan, you guys misread Tony`s reply although his punctuation can be a challenge at times, depends on how much shine you`ve had. His question should have read, "There`s a crane got a grip on that thing, from the top, right?".

That sucks Ben, you clearly got a bad batch! There are people around here that make the best home brews!

I personally use a 044 with a 36" bar on occasion. I use it mostly for cutting large pines, and with a sharp chain, it cuts fine for me. It pulls chips plenty fast for me, but I guess I am to young to see the rush. I wish I had a 096 or whatever is the biggest saw Stihl made (that was common). I normally use a 28"er but on some pines, the 36" is easier. What would be an accseptible time to buck a 3' pine log?

Well all my biching and moaning paid off, the guy bought a new 066 today!:blob2:
Now maybe I can cut those six foot stumps without getting all pi$$ed off and frustrated.
I'ld like to see him modify it, but I doubt he will.

Cool pic, Gypo! I once had to force a 20" bar on a '84 to finish off a stump - that sucker cut!

You should see the looks I get with my custom cut 20" 3/8" bar n chain of my 394.... Don't need no dawgs, sucker blows thru wood like a junkie thru coke!

A 28" is common for 46s and 32s for 66s running a bar shorter than 28"s is unheard of on a 046. Guys may run a 28" on a 66 if they are falling and bucking small wood. On a 044 you can run a 28 just have to make sure the chain is sharp and a skip tooth chain.

Nothing beats cutting soft wood the only hard wood I have cut is well seasoned Alder and Maple. The trees that have value on the West Coast is cedar and Fir hemlock isn't worth much mostly sold for pulp.

When you work on slopes here on the coast 90% of the trees you can't walk around easly you can work on one side comfortably the other side you can't.

You guys that live where the land is flat as a table no big rocks to trip over no heavy under brush to wade through etc. The lot I'am working on I'am exhausted just carrying my saw around the site because its like mountain climbing.

When you climb down the hill you make darn sure you don't forget something climbing back up to the truck is a PITA.
