OK, I know that sounds crazy. After doing the muffler mod, setting the carb a little rich, and doing some light firewood cutting for a few tanks, I was ready to see today how the new Solo 694 really runs. I adjusted the carb a little leaner (still four-strokes under no load), sharpened the chain (28" full chisel, full skip), and installed a 8-pin drive sprocket. I thought I would give it a run on a big white oak (probably 36" DBH) that had gone down this summer.
It went through it like butter. The saw wouldn't bog at all. I came back to the house and sharpened again when I was done and found that the rakers did need filing, which I did. Maybe it will cut a little faster now, but I'm not sure why I would want it to. It made firewood of that monster way sooner than I was ready to quit. What a dilema. Can't resist bigger, faster, more power, but now I'm sitting here with not enough wood to cut. Woah is me.

Good post. Sounds like you got a monster of a saw there. I read some other posts a while back about the 694 and they were on par with your post. Sounds like a mean machine indeed..

I guess you know it but the 694 is the Dolmar 9010 in disguise.

It has quite a lot less power than the old 690, at least according to Solo.
