Thanks Chris! That Grider is from a different rea for sure. Much like the Black and decker drill. As soon as I get the drill press, Radial arm saw and table saw I will post them along with a bucnch of other "cool" tools

My proudest moment so far welding aluminum. Here is a pic, just been running a bunch of beads.

I've just had it set to auto AC balance, and it work good, nice amount of cleaning action as you can see around the weld.

That's a nice bead, Will!!

I've got a TIG, but it's an old "add-on" unit to my regular line welder with no pedal, so I have all but given up on aluminum, unless it's heavier gauge. I use it for stainless and steel though........I built a set of Exhaust pipes for my Harley, all out of mandrel bends, cut into short lengths and TIG welded together to make it around the corners.......I just love the fact that it's such a clean weld with no spatter.

Does it do AC?

Yes. I LOVE this tig, it has such unbelievable control, I can't get over it. Real nice to have foot control, its a true squarewave machine, not an inverter style, and it goes down to as low as 5amps, that's crazy!

That's a fine looking bead Will! Keep it up, and soon you will be welding everything you can get your hands on. . . Even the neighbors cat. Hahahaha

Great score Joe. Love that bench grinder.

Talking of Black & Decker drills. Here's one that was left at the house I bought. Notice anything innovative about this drill?

Congrats on the house purchase Joe.

Found a couple interesting pieces at a garage sale today.

The old guy there called that a "surface grinder". Said his dad was a master machinist and built the thing himself. I got it for $20; I don't know if I'll end up using it as a grinder or whatnot, but I just really wanted the post with the nice precision double dovetail adjustments. They're super slick - reminds me of something BobL here might have built! Basically the guy's dad was using it to grind perfectly flat surfaces as you can see on the big piece of 3/4" plate he so kindly included with the grinder. I guess the old man passed away a while back and the son had no use for this thing, so it was up for sale.

I got these old parts in a box for $1 as well:

I know what they are from (the guy I bought them from told me), but I want to see if anyone else here has any idea, since I'm pretty sure there are at least a couple guys here on AS that are involved in the related hobby/industry.

Yep - it looks like a home made surface grinder. Some have an X-Y-X table like this one we have at work.

i use the one at work to create the basic bevel on A2 hand plane blades

Glad you posted those photos of grinding a knife bevel - that's something I was hoping to be able to do with this thing. Remember those cross-slide mechanisms I have that I showed you when you were here? Hopefully I can figure out some kind of knife holder to use with one of them and then mount it to the grinder's base.

Congrats on the house purchase Joe.

Thanks Al. I have to clean it up a bit, but it works just fine. Its a 3/8'' hammer drill too. Your B&D is really cool. I noticed the keyless chuck as well. A shame they stopped making quality tools.
