OK, I need someone with a dirty tool less cap problem to try this.

Get a Stihl 0000-359-1210 gasket and install it in the groove above the oring. You will want to lube it up well and it will make the cap fit tighter, but I think it may keep the dirt out. I tried it on a MS290 and it fit. Let me know.

Huh?

I just tried it on my dirty, toothless cat, and I got scratched.

Otherwise, I am just guessing about what you are talking about.

I believe that's what StihlTech is suggesting. He's come up with a possible fix and now we need to try it out and see if it works. As soon as one of my commercial guys brings another effected saw in I'm gonna try it and let the guy know we're testing so he can keep an eye on it.
