let's say i trade in my 441 (bought in march, have ran 12 tanks through it since)
for a 660 at a stihl dealer...

how's that gonna work?

like tradin' a car that you don't owe any payments on?

Tom or Andy could probably give you a pretty good estimate on what you could expect on trade, but I agree with Spacemule and think you could get more selling it online.

You will get more money in a private sale or on eBay. Heck, I had an 044 I rebuilt go for $525 on there a couple months ago, even without giving it a new coat of paint.

Unless your dealer knows you and can be 100% confident in the way you treat your saws, the odds of getting a good trade-in price are pretty slim.

The dealer also has to make money on it when he sells it to someone else, so your trade in value is cut accordingly.

Sell it yourself. Heres my experiece for what its worth.
When YOU have a used saw to trade, its OLD and USED.
When the Dealer has a used saw for sale, its a CREAMPUFF!
No different than buying a car, most dealers have formulas they go by so they can recon your trade and make a profit, and thats the way it should be.
Honestly, I don't think most of them want to trade used saws. My 2 cents!:greenchainsaw:

If you came to my place id offer between 4-500. Depending on condition. $500 being in MINT non scratched condition. If its beat and been sitting in a puddle of oil for 3 months than it will be $300.

Clean it up and put it on EBAY. You my even get more than you paid for it!

Due to the problems with most hand held and 2-cycle equipment we suggest to the owner that they try for a private party sale or eBay.

Trade-in on equipment has to take into account a worth-while dealer profit along with any costs associated with bringing your saw to 100% shape as our reputation is worth more than a saw.

Sell it to one of the fine members here. Or ship it out for a woods mod and buy the 660....now you have 2 killer saws to play with.

Put that 441 right on the "Trading Post" here...............with all the positive reviews on the 441 seeling here shouldn't be a problem!!!

Why sell the 441???

it should show up on the tradin' post in a bit

selling it because i've decided after all to go with the 660...

we get a lot of "can you cut those stumps lower to the ground.."
type jobs along with removals and trimming
