I need trailer brake shoes for my Woodchuck WC/12 chipper. The ID plate for the chipper is gone, so I don't know what year machine this is. The outflow tube for the chips is round, unlike the square-tube models you usually see, if that means anything. The machine is powered by a Deutz diesel.

It looks like it's a 12" drum.

I think, I spoke with the mechanic doing the job. I believe the axle is made by Dexter and did he inspect the axle for a serial number tag for Dexter? If he didn't find a tag, did he call Altec who now owns Woodchuck?

Thanks,

Dave

Yep, you probably did.

Nope, couldn't find a tag on the axle. He's gonna see if a Denver brake outfit can put new linings on the shoes. Altec says they don't have any such parts, and they'd have to order something that would be about six weeks out.

Thanks, Dave.

Wow, thanks Matt. They finished work on the chipper Friday. Don't know where he got the brakes from.

Everything's available if you know where to look. Back in the day we just had the local parts store or J.C. Whitney catalog.
