i would like to take a course on climbing with spurs and using ropes and such. personal use now but maybe blossum into a career , being that anyone local hardly climbs they want to pull a bucket truck in everywhere.
question i cant seem to find such a thing at least in my area (south, michigan) the one i found you had to be employee in the business or they wouldnt train.
any ideas?

I've had two friends who were self taught take 40 foot falls. I think you would be best off working for a tree service for a while. Climbing with spikes isn't really that much of a skill by the way. Learning to climb without them is the hard part.

yeah working for a tree service would be great, not an option though being that i have a job.
i guessed i worded it wrong i would not climb without spurs! and as far as ropes i was talking about having a second tie off and stuff like that.
yeah i can buy spurs and run up a tree no problem, its the safety and everything else that goes with i want to learn.

You shouldn't spike a tree that isn't being removed. Its really frowned upon unless you want to be a hack. If you want to be a good climber learn to climb without spurs first.
