Don't be offended, discouraged, etc... take what you read as feedback to do better. That is why (most of us) are here is to learn. no better opportunity than the laboratory of your own experiences. Not everything you read here is 100% accurate, so use negative critique as an excuse to explore their point, read, study then make your own determination based on the broader knowledge base, not on a single opinion. Finally, once you reach that conclusion, be comfortable in your own skin and don't feel like you need to justify yourself to anybody.

IMHO, of course ;)

Appreciate the honesty, I would have done many different things if it were my tree. I mostly would've left it alone. I was hoping for a yes you've pinched the wire and it'll snap or no you've used a 7000lb wire to hold a healthy limb those clamps are fine. My copy reads should not be used for large then 1/8 and since I could've used 1/8 I used the clamps. I know metal swages would've been better. I prefer to use cable I can splice but that wasn't readily available and my splicing is slowwwww. Since the consensus is (aside from possibly causing disease or rot from the drill wound) the wire will be fine. I feel better. I also figured I'd throw something other then chainsaws on the forum

I was wrong. ANSI 33.4.8 wire rope over 3mm shall not terminate with wire rope clamps.

Also I know the tail on that wire is a little long. :( (shame)

So your 7/1000 of an inch too big to be using those terminations... Looks good to be otherwise (except I would not have supported that limb at all :) ).

Too long of a tail looks untidy, but is not going to cause problems, right? So I wouldn't be too concerned with that.

Have you set up a time (or at least the expectation) to inspect it next year?

It's technically a city tree so it will be inspected on their rotation as well as I live in this city so I will be seeing this tree often.

Since it's Saturday this thread could use some humor.

My concern isn't the wire nuts (although on my own trees, I've bent over the loose end and put a wire nut on that so it would slide through), it's the eye screw. It looks like a regular hardware store eye screw. In my opinion, their threads are too small to get a proper grab, I think you should have used a proper J Lag.

I agree that it doesn't look like the branch needed to be cabled. And given it's a city tree, it should be the city's responsibility to manage the risk of the branch and not the homeowner.

It is a forged eye screw not one of those self tapping tiny thread Eye screws they sell to hang flower baskets from. Very good observation though.
